Creating and growing a succulent can transform your desk from a boring paper-filled desert into a green oasis....well probably not exactly but it can reduce stress and create a calming environment. Here is a step by step instruction on how to create a succulent:
The first thing you will need is an open container. A closed terrarium is a big no-no with high mosture and humid environments. We recommend a glass container with a sloped curve
Add a layer of small river rocks or gravel at the bottom of the terrarium. This will create a reserviour where excess water can draing preventing any overaturation and protecting the plants roots.
Before you place your succulent in the pot you've chosen, fill it almost (but not quite) to the top with potting soil. Leave a little bit of room at the top, so the roots will have a comfortable fit, and you'll be able to add more soil later on.
Here comes the fun part! Add your succulent to the platner. You can design it any way you want to plant whereever you would like. Make sure the rooters are into the soil. Once you have placed the succulents, fill the pot up to cover the roots but the leaves sit on top of the soil to prevent rotting.
To finish off your succulent feel free to add any moss or decorations. Decorations can be rocks, gravel, or small figures.
You don't need to water your succulent for a day or two. Then water periodically to keep your succulent growing.
Collecting all of the materials and going through the process of creating the garden can be challenging. Engage your friends, coworkers or family with an activity you can all do together. Here are some of our most popular suculent virtual classes with supplies:
