When Ari Weinzweig and Paul Saginaw started talking nearly forty years ago about opening a deli, they had a vision for what it would be like to eat one of their sandwiches. “We wanted it to be so big, you’d have to use two hands to hold it, and it would be so stacked and packed with ingredients that dressing would drip down your arms when you took a bite,” recalls Paul. “I wanted to see a pile of used napkins next to every customer. Then I’d know we were doing it right.” The reuben was, is, and forever will be our most popular sandwich. We make about 50,000 reubens a year and has made an impression on everyone from Barack Obama to Mindy Kaling to Oprah to my own mom (she likes hers with chopped liver). Now you can make your own reuben sandwich at home with expert demonstration, advice and insights from one of our delicatessen sandwich magicians. We will guide you through the entire process of making a reuben exactly the way we do at the Deli. From prepping and slicing the bread, to steaming the meats and grilling the sandwich to the optimum moment of perfect cheese meltification, this class will lead you on a sandwich making adventure and at the end of the event you’ll be dining on the Ruebens we create.
How it works
Each Reuben kits come with everything you need for 2 full-sized Reuben sandwiches (your choice of flavor - classic Corned Beef, Pastrami, Turkey, or Tempeh!). Your host will meet your on Zoom and guide you through the process of preparing each indigent for optimal flavor and share our tips and tricks for building your sandwich. A kitchen with a stove and oven is recommended for this event, but you'll be able to create your sandwich without it if needed - everything is ready to eat straight out of the box.
We can mix and match the flavors for your Reubens to accommodate allergies and food preferences. There is a 6 person minimum for this event. Addresses are due 2 weeks before the event so that we can set up shipping (included in the per-person cost). Kits ship overnight and we can ship sandwich kits anywhere in the United States - sorry, we are unable to ship internationally.
